Nunie, Our Story

Annie Stewart & I (Georgia Fugar) are two Clinical Naturopaths working in Sydney, Australia.

We studied together at Endeavour College and were often paired as partners in clinic, which naturally led to a shared Naturopathic approach to treating our patients. Our first case we ever brainstormed together was a sexual health case, which in hindsight set the stage for a lot of our clinical interest moving forward.

Our conversations both in and outside of clinic revealed a mutual belief that sexual wellness is an integral part of overall well-being, for both ourselves and our patients. If we were going to treat the whole person in front of us and bring them into a state of optimal health, ensuring their connection to pleasure, intimacy and sexual health was paramount.

We worked together after finishing our degree and were both making topical herbal creams, gels & balms to treat recurrent thrush, UTI's, Bacterial vaginosis, Herpes, Aerobic Vaginitis and more, both being consistently blown away by how effective Naturopathic interventions could be. We watched our patients move out of cycles of shame, discomfort, pain & disconnect, into a state of deeper connection to themselves, their partner, and overall a higher level of confidence and empowerment.

How it Evolved

We only had two challenges with our treatment.

One, our topical herbal interventions were not very sexy! Plant medicines are powerful, potent and effective, but don't always taste nice or smell nice, which occasionally led to some compliance issues.

Two, our patients would come so far with their treatment and then they would have sex with a new partner and often their symptoms would return - particularly if they were using synthetic lubricants, scented condoms, or simply not matching with their new partner's microbiome.

Annie and I were talking about these challenges over coffee (most of our greatest ideas came from our coffee chats) and Annie said " I just wish our patients could have sex while being treated for infections at the same time!"

That idea founded the basis of Nunie, where we endeavoured to turn our topical creams & gels into one sexier, nicer smelling & tasting product so that our patients could use it as a treatment whilst having sex, preventing their infections and imbalances from returning. Our first product, Sex Butter, was the outcome.

The name Nunie came from a survey we conducted, asking what vulva-owners were taught to call their vagina growing up. One individual was taught to call her vagina 'nunie', and we fell in love with the name.

We hand-make every single butter in Sydney.

We love having a hands-on approach to manufacturing as it aligns with our Naturopathic approach of making individualised medicinal products for our patients.

Annie and myself make every batch, as we are operating as a two-woman show.

Every batch is infused with music, love, and most importantly the intention to heal.

Because we make Nunie in small batch releases, there can occasionally be small variabilities between batches due to using hand-made, plant medicine ingredients that can change colour and consistency across seasons.

We feel this speaks to the special qualities of Nunie, standing out from the rest of the mass-manufactured sexual wellness products on the market.

The beginning of something bigger.

Our butter is only the first offering of Nunie.

We are working behind the scenes to expand our range, as well as evolve into an educational platform where you can engage with Naturopathic practitioners to assist you on your sexual wellness journey.

Intimate microbiome health goes beyond feeling balanced downstairs, it affects fertility, immune health, endometriosis, energy and more. While our butter really does help with imbalances and soothing symptoms, we understand the importance of getting to the root cause of symptoms and working with a practitioner to resolve your issues long-term.
